Best Time to Go
Most visitors come to Aspen during ski season and that is typically the best time to go. If you will be visiting for reason other than skiing, you would do well to consider a summer visit when Aspen Vacation Rentals, Condos, Hotels and Aspen ski resorts costs plummet. Also, consider that it is a much easier drive from Denver during the summer. Also, Independence Pass on Hwy-82 (which provides the quickest access to Aspen) is closed during the winter months. A detour through Glenwood Springs adds an extra 70 miles to the trip from Denver.

Average Weather
The Average temperatures from September through May are typically below freezing. Only in July do the low termperatures get up into the 40's. The weather is always cold November through March and the precipitation averages over an inch per month year round. June through September can see daytime highs reach the 70's.

Transportation
Most guest to ou area fly into Denver to catch connecting flights to the Aspen Colorado airport. Supershuttle and Colorado Mountain Express provide service from the airport to most Aspen Vacation Rentals and condos and virually all of of the Aspen Hotels. Others choose to fly into Eagle County Airport in Vail and use Colorado Mountain Express for the remainder of the journey to Aspen. In Aspen, the Roaring Fork Transit Agency runs a gratis' skiers’ shuttle between the four mountains and also free journeys within the town. The Roaring Fork Transit Agency also serves the airport and outlying areas for a small fee.

In-Season Costs
Aspen Vacation Rentals, Aspen Condos and all Aspen Hotels can be somewhat pricey during the peak season. Even the best bargain hunters will do well to find a Aspen rentals / rooms in the lower $100s during the winter months. Expect to pay close to $200 a night for an Aspen Hotel and upwards of $250 per night for most Aspen Vacation Rentals during high season. More moderately priced lodging acommodations can be found in nearby Carbondale or Glenwood, where hotels go in the $80 to $90 price range. Eating out can be a little pricey as well, where most of the area’s restaurants charge at least $25 per entrée. Such food pricing highlights the value many guests find in renting Aspen Vacation Rentals like condos or villas that have full kitchens. Bargain hunters should try the area bars who also serve good food and can be found at reasonable prices with a little searching. Also, many area bars offer live music without a cover charge.
